Craig
Meyer became a Big Brother in 1987 and has ever since cherished
his friendship with his Little Brother. While assisting his
"Little" with the daunting task of finding a prep
school scholarship in the early 1990's, Craig recognized an
opportunity for Big Brothers/Big Sisters to assist "Bigs"
with the advanced educational needs of their Littles. In more
recent years, Craig also saw building a designer show house
as an opportunity to help the organization in a way other
than being a Big. When Craig recently learned that Big Brothers
of Massachusetts Bay has independently created an Educational
Advocacy and Scholarship Program to assist Littles to achieve
their educational goals, he realized the time was right to
use his business success to support this new program.
Dream House 2002 is the culmination of that vision. Dream
House 2002 was a collaborative effort with Big Brothers of
Massachusetts Bay and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of South Middlesex
which offered tours of an 8,000 square foot estate home. Each
room of the residence was decorated and merchandised by some
of the finest interior designers and artists in New England.
During
the Open House in the Fall of 2002, more than 2,000 visitors
toured this one-of-a-kind home. The event resulted in a donation
to these two non-profit organizations of more than $45,000,
part of which went to the Educational Advocacy and Scholarship
Program.
